Feminnism? Or futher objectification of women?
The Internet is abuzz with Beyonce’s VMA performance, so here’s my two cents.
First, if you haven’t seen it, check out this MTV write up with video.
Yes, women are sexual beings, and we can get just as raunchy as men. The current problem we face in our society, is that sex is all women are valued for. Beyonce has made millions showing future generations how to shake that ass, shake your money maker, turn that cherry out. At the same time, women in the everyday world are struggling to earn a living because they are not valued for their intelligence, only for their animal magnetism.
“The world has never yet seen a truly great and virtuous nation,
because in the degradation of women,
the very fountains of life are poisoned at their source.”
I know that this may seem prudish, but when the only successful women we see are Sexessful, what’s the point of studying plant biology to be a farmer, or human anatomy to be a doctor? Why bother with study of the world for the sake of furthering sustainable industry & infrastructure, when right now we can get rich (or die trying) by elevating Sexy to a Life Goal.
Media Mavens and E!News Darlings, I’m calling you out. You want to be a real feminist? Demand more than just the equal right to hot sex.
“My own sex, I hope, will excuse me, if I treat them like rational creatures,
instead of flattering their fascinating graces,
and viewing them as if they were in a state of perpetual childhood, unable to stand alone.”
